Lady Gaga

The music review written about Lady Gaga is called “Lavish Worlds, and the Headwear to Match” by Jon Pareles. It is written in a very unique way because he is trying to appeal to a certain group like music lover and young adults. He does this by using a very informative, descriptive, and praising voice throughout the review trying to get people to better know Lady Gaga. Pareles uses many facts about her that people probably did not know like, “Lady Gaga [is] a multi-selling, Grammy-nominated star in less than a year.”  Pareles would be attracting music lovers because they would have to take interests in someone who is as talented as her and who has all her accomplishments in such little time. Especially when Pareles is saying she was “sounding like a female Elton John” and Elton is an all time great. Lady Gaga was not only compared to Elton John she was compared to “show people like David Bowie and Madonna established this career path, Lady Gaga is strutting along it with larger-than-life style and, behind that, actual musical gift.”  The review compares Lady Gaga to some of the greats like causing people to take notice.
Young adults would be interested because of how descriptive Pareles is and his word choice like when he says, “no one in pop is more audacious about headwear.”  Pareles uses the word audacious, which is a very bold descriptive word and stands out. When someone reads this it will catch his or her eyes and young people usually love young artist who make fashion statement and that are very outgoing. The review talks her outfits with a lot of details and a little about herself. It also talks about how much she loves her fans and what she thinks about them. It would seem that Pareles is a big fan of Lady Gaga and is trying to get more to enjoy her music. Pareles is very descriptive about her tour he also sounds fascinated how she entertains the fans and with her personality. The review is also written in the New York Times, which is a very decorated newspaper and many read it. New York is a big state and Pareles wanted a huge audience trying to attract as many being he can and this newspaper is not only read by people in New York people all over are able to read it. Pareles uses his voice in a smart way and accomplished what he was trying to do.
