As time winds down an old chapter
closes and a new chapter begins the low roar of what it seemed to be like
screaming fans were waiting. My time in high school was coming to an end. All
that hard work was finally going to pay off all those sleepless nights all
those endless hours studying it was time. Time for the gates of adulthood to
open up and I was ready to hit the ground running. The blue silver and white
banners saying congratulations graduates felt unreal. The quote by nelson
Mandela truly meant a huge amount to me now every task seems impossible until
it is done. It was unreal to me that four years have passed and it was finally
over. In my all blue cap and gown. The only words exchanged between students
were “we made it man congrats”. As all of these thoughts were unraveling in my
head it was time for me to stand. My row was next we stood at attention and
gracefully executed the moves that we were taught the week before as we walked
up to stage butterflies rushing through my stomach and all I could do was
smile.
As I was searching for my mother in
the huge crowd of proud parents and relatives right before I went up to get the
piece of paper that I worked so hard for. I found my mother in that beautiful
elegant dress her smile stretched from ear to ear and as they called my name
that single tear drop fell from her cheek and this tear meant so much to me do
to the fact that this was the most powerful and independent women that I have
ever encountered in my life. All my life she was strong and never shed a single
tear and that one tear showed me that I finally made her proud she had finally
watch her son become a man. A man I became, throughout these past four years I
learned so much from my peer and my teachers, but more importantly myself. I
learned things that seemed impossible for me were accomplished and things that
were beyond my horizon soon become possible to touch. One thing I can
definitely say is that life throws curveballs but when they come high schools
teaches you to sit in the batters box wait for it and knock it out the park.
